Susan Lake Dock

Thanks to a partnership between Freshwater Fisheries Society (FFSBC), Rec Sites & Trails and the Golden Rod & Gun Club (GDRGC), Susan Lake has a brand new dock!

FFSBC & GDRGC split the costs of the dock and was installed in mid September.

Hopefully this makes the launching area a little more friendly to the boats and allows some to fish off the dock!

Study to determine restoration for Moberly Marsh underway

The Moberly Marsh has undergone changes to its landscape over many decades, and now groups are coming together to discuss a restoration project.

The restoration project could have many benefits, from introducing fish back into the ecosystem, to fostering habitats of waterfowl, shore birds, and recreational opportunities. Original changes to the marsh were likely made to benefit farmers who lived in the area. Farmers in the area still have controls for water levels on their own properties.

Sheep Study helps determine their habitat in Kicking Horse Canyon

Golden has a relatively small sheep population, and groups are coming together to study them and ensure they continue to thrive in the Kicking Horse Canyon.

The herd population is around 14 to 16 ewe and rams, which reside in the area slated for major highway twinning construction in the Kicking Horse Canyon.
