We need your help to ensure a science-based approach to conservation and the return of a well-managed Grizzly Bear hunt.

The Provincial Government is soliciting feedback on its Grizzly Bear Stewardship Framework and the deadline has been extended until September 8th at 4:00pm.

The B.C. Wildlife Federation has drafted a letter that our members can share with their MLAs and relevant ministers, along with any comments of their own. The letter is simple to share - putting in a postcode will automatically address it to the relevant MLA – then just click send.

During this engagement, the Province invites you to learn more about B.C.’s bears and to join the conversation by sharing your thoughts on the draft Grizzly Bear Stewardship Framework.

Elk Winter Range Enhancement Project Funding

The Habitat Conservation Trust is proud to announce over $8 million in funding for 167 fish and wildlife conservation projects across B.C. this year, with over $1.2M allocated to projects in the Kootenay region.

One of those projects includes our elk winter range enhancement project in the Kicking Horse Canyon, which is co-funded by the Forest Enhancement Society of BC. Our goal is to improve the habitat for ungulate species such as Rocky Mountain Elk, Mule Deer and White-tailed Deer.

Meet our Board Members: Sonia Nicholl

Meet our board member - Sonia Nicholl!

1️⃣ Tell us a little bit about yourself
I’m a human-wildlife conflict officer and firearms instructor with Parks Canada and have been living in Golden since 2012.

2️⃣ How long have you been a part of the Golden District Rod & Gun Club?
I've been a member since around 2015.

3️⃣ What are your favourite outdoor activities?
I've recently really gotten into hunting! I only started hunting in earnest a handful of years ago and have found it to be a steep learning curve because my father, brothers, and husband don’t hunt!

4️⃣ Why did you want to be a part of the GDRG Board?
I’ve been fortunate to have friends and colleagues who have taught me along the way, and their support has motivated me to want to support others (especially ladies!) to get into hunting!

5️⃣ Anything else you'd like to share with our community!
I recently became a CORE examiner along with my friend Jessica and we are planning to run a ladies learn-to-hunt series this fall and winter with our friend Sarah and help from the Golden Rod & Gun Club and @golden_skull_works.

Follow @ladies_hunt_stuff on Instagram or email ladieshuntstuff@gmail.com for details and updates.
